Does this warning apply to Porsches ??

I saw a warning on the suction cups of a radar detector that said some cars have a coating on the interior glass that can be ruined if suction cups are applied to it.

I am not referring to it not working well but referring to the fact that something intrinsic to the interior of the windshiled glass would be ruined.

Does anyone know if Porsche has this "coating" or has anyone had a problem by using suction cups on their front windshield ?

My best uneducated guess is that the coating could be for the heads up display used on many vehicles. I know that a replacement windshield is an extra expense for the cars as a slightly more reflective coating is applied to the inside of the glass to enhance the display...

The coating on the inside of the windshield is an anti-lacerative coating to reduce potential injury in a collision or other event causing windshield breakage. I was also concerned about the suction cups leaving a permanent mark and avoided it for a long time. I finally decided to use a suction cup and there doesn't seem to be a problem. I have found the glass to be pretty soft and easily bruised by stones so replacement will probably occur with some frequency. I am currently preparing to custom install a radar/laser detector that will eliminate anything hanging on the windshield or sitting on the dash.
