09 911 turbo blowing smoke...

I've heard it's common for 911 turbos to blow blue smoke when started, after they've been sitting for a while. Is there any truth to that?

if you shut them off when they are at op temp there will likely be no smoke on start-up...but if you shut it off cold the tolerances are larger and some oil can seep past the rings and there will be smoke when you next start it up

K... TY My trip to the dealer yielded a great 09 with 9k miles, but the smoke on the startup caused me to take a few steps back. My C2s never had that issue, so thanks for the info.

if it does it all the time check for excessive oil consumption and have the dealer check it out but if it is only occasionally (especially if you have shut it off cold) then don't worry about it...is it both banks or just one?...if just one bank it could be a turbo seal on that side
