I was just wondering how the airbox exploits the property of helmholtz resonance.

I understand how the helmholtz resonator works however, this application is a little confusing.

The device is simply an enhancer of sound at lower RPM's and a method of decreasing those same sounds at higher RPM's. It's purpose is to enable the cars to meet Germany noise standards which were previoulsy surpassed at high engine RPM's.
