What is the proper racing line on this track?

So I just came back from my first trip to Fort Lauderdale's Xtreme Indoor Karting facility. I didn't get to see a layout of the track before the start of my 16-lap race so it took a little while to figure out how to handle some of its ridiculous curves. After I came home I found a layout of the track (pictured below) and I was looking at it trying to figure out the proper lines through some of the corners but I've been having a hard time figuring it out. Can somebody more experienced than myself use MSPaint or something to show which way I should have been going? The starting line was halfway through the straight and movement was counter-clockwise.

It is hard to say what the right line is, if you don't know the surface. The amount of grip is changed greatly with camber (on/off) and if there are changes in the surface (type of surface, wear, imperfections) in the corners or breaking zones.

More grip in the beginning of the corner means you do more turning early and get on the throttle (off the brake in most karts) earlier.

If there is a spot that dirupts the balance of the car then that adjusts the line as well. I have some time, so I'll try to draw (with a mouse is hard) a line for you to think about, but again, the reality is that too many thing change the line.

Best,

Trevor

Here you go. again reality is probably different.

I "drew" a line that should be a decent starting point. The red circles are the truns of most importance. Most important is the far right one leadig on to the longest straight. However, if you are flat out (the kart is low powered) then first turn that you use the brakes that comes before that one is the most important. That might either be the turn before or the middle red circle. (I hope that was clear?)

The next most (second or third most) important turn is the red circle on the left.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the insight. From the sound of things it seems like there should be an image in your last post but I'm not able to see anything. I'm curious to see where you put the line.

we have an extreme karting place here in so cal. Traditional racing lines are almost meaningless at these tracks. I found "shortening" the track as much as possible gave me the fastest lines. When you take some of these corners w/ the traditional apex lines you run more track than you really need w/ these electric karts. just my 2 yen.
