The importance of getting the line right...

[Non-street car content, but relevant to anyone who tracks their car(s).]

For anyone who has ever questioned the oft-repeated instruction of "focus on getting the line right, and the speed will come".....

See linked video from Sunday's SCCA Runoffs testing session at Road America. The really interesting stuff starts around 1:40.



Notice that in the entry to T7, I turned in less than 1 foot early (between 4 and 6 inches, I believe). This is at around 110MPH in these cars, full throttle, no lift;the car was pulling 2.02g right before the incident. Attached photo is the end result of that mistake....

The good news is that I walked away with little more than a broken toe and a lot of residual soreness. The worst hit was in my wallet.

Sorry about your car, but am THRILLED you are alright. I hope your statement is correct, because right now, I feel like I am driving through 8 inches of mud



PS - The club had a vette that met the same demise on Friday............oil on the track
