what do you do at Wakins Glen when your car breaks
Hi guys and gals.
i was just up at Wakins Glen for a 2 day event. great track, historic hotels (read primitive) and great country side.
I have been going there for 40 years and have had great luck. I drive my car to the events, drive the track, and drive home, now to NJ. driving up this time, i wondered for a few minutes, what would happen if my car failed.
well, I found out, and that is the subject of the thread.
in the second run group, coming up out of the toe of the boot, by car went black for split second, then resumed at 3k rpm. i was able to limp back to the pits where it really went black.
They towed me into the pits, and everyone tried to help. We found the battery had 12 V, but every other site had 0 volts.
calling around, it was recommended that I call Geneva Foreign and Sports http://www.gfs1.com/;Phone: 315-781-2400
they were expert, fast and courteous. they found the fault, a broken ground lead due to an insecure battery.
they have a full array of services available, and Dan, the service manager is a Porsche guy.
It is 40 mi away from WGI, but with AAA it is a "free" tow.
so if you wind up in trouble, call them. they might save you as they did me.
