AWD and high hp??

I've noticed that many people are running high hp but most seem to have moved to RWD. Is this through choice or necessity? Can the Porsche AWD system handle 800-1000hp?

Carriers, hubs, shocks, engine and tranny mounts, bushings, LSD's front and rear, driveline, axles, gearing, wheels, brakes, ABS, accuator, A arms, etc.

Actually, almost everything.
