There is a lot of kit cars out there you could put a 7-800 cubic inch NA engine in, basically what the IHRA mountain motor pro stock cars are, and de-tune it so it will live.

I would not consider nitrous as N/A either...

I've seen a '64 Chevy Nova B-pillar 2-door running around central NC -- slightly aged white paint, doggy bowl hubcaps on very nice but too wide to be stock steel wheels, bench vinyl seats and a column shift for the automatic no less, with big dual exhausts 3.5 inch each, hidden up behind the rear bumper where they are not obvious.
It has a ten-liter off-shore boat racing block, a Judd I think, somehow crammed under the hood, lots of goodies, and trick Powerglide, and and about 795 RWHP on 103 octane gasoline, NA. that's the most NA I ever saw on a dyno.

Anyone got a spare $88,000 or so?

How does 892 cubic inches sound?

"GM SEMI-HEMISPHERICAL HEADED ENGINE"
5.080 BORE X 5.500 STROKE
NATURALLY ASPIRATED (NO NITROUS)

2035 HP @ 8100
1415 LBS. TORQUE @ 6500

Now if I can just figure out a way to bolt that into an Ultima GTR chassis and have it weigh no more than 2500 lbs!

I think that for V8's the most powerful N/A engine is either Ferrari's 4.5L V8 in the 458 Italia, or the 6.2L V8 in the SLS AMG.....

Most assume its the 120 hp / liter F20C that came in the Honda S2000 for piston engines. But alas they are not correct, its the Suzuki R13B which came in the Suzuki Cultus Suzuka edition...basically our Suzuki Swift GTi on steroids! 1.3L.....185 hp....142 hp a liter!

All that stuff is great theoretically, but the reality is lame. You'd pull up in your Suzuki Suzuka and get beat to death by your Mom's new Toyota Camry.

Lightbulb

While the Ulimate Aero is the most powerful n/a car , I wouldn't put it in the production car class . In the past ,to race cars in production class ,manufacturers had to release 200 to the public. It would be easy to build a kit car and shove a GM crate ZZ572 720HP engine in it
Friend had an Ultima GTR with a n/a 383 stroker with a measly 400HP+ . That car was fast way back . I can't imagine what it could do with a ZZ572 , since my friend's Noble M400 do awesome with only 450HP .
Ps; I know it's an old thread ,just want it to bring up my post count be able to see pictures on this site.
