Thinking about picking up an R32...
I am thinking about picking up a used R32 (2004 model) as a DD in an area that sees its fair share of snow (Chicago). How reliable is this car? Comfort? (it will be driven to Las Vegas multiple times). Is it mod friendly? Good in the snow? ...I think you get the point. Give me any and all comments that you have about the car.
Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot.
#1. Rule verify the Haldex controller was serviced on time every 40k.
#2. Make sure coil packs and coolant senor are the updated versions or car will run like $hit.
#3. Try to get a new battery if possible VW batteries seem to go quick
#4. Make sure it has proper alignment before purchase and be sure to check the insides of the tires that are on car
R32's came setup from factory with quite a bit of camber and tires wear a 3/4 inch strip on the inside of tire this is normal but try to get new rubber before buying.
If car comes with adjustable rear control arms already installed that would be a big plus .
Otherwise invest in them soon after purchase or be ready to replace tires often.
Will proper maintenance the VR6's motors are rock solid...
As always ask for all service records.

used to have a MKV R32 but they are pretty much the same.
1.) car is very reliable(its a vw)
2.) its very comfortable(im 6'3" and 250lbs)
3.) its very mod friendly(but plan on spending a lot if you want a lot more power out of it)
4.) they are great in the snow(make sure you extra set of wheels for snow tires)
overall it is an awesome car. only thing that makes the 2004 R better than the 2008 R is the manual tranny. you will not be disappointed with the car.

Thanks guys, after hearing the input on here, and doing a TON more research on other forums and articles, I think this is the car. Now I just need to find the right one. I'm pretty excited!
