MPG is around 18-21 driving "sporty" lol Can dip real quick to 14 ish if ya hammer it, and go to 24-26+ if you drive "off the boost"

Maybe it was an R32? Or perhaps it was in another country... when the MkV R32 came out I poo-pooed the DSG as the only option and didn't even test drive one because of it when I was in the market for another car. Then I drove one when I wasn't in a position to buy it, and I was completely sold!

Now the R20 is old school only for those in NA. Sucks kinda, I really like the DSG now. I know people ***** no matter what you give them as an option. I would never own a car with parasitic torque converter, but an automated, dual clutch will be my next car.

 

Yeah, but no matter what you do FWD pretty much sucks for anything over 200ft lbs. The GTI is a great car for daily driver and performance bargain, but it will always be limited. Both in a straight line, and especially for turning.

 

For a FWD car however, the GTI is amazing to drive. I actually prefer it to the Golf R, stock for stock.

 

Enjoy your R! I still have thoughts every once and a while about picking up a MK6 R!

 

You will love it. Just popped 20K miles on mine, stock other than a flash. Software really wakes it up!!

 

Congrats!! Golf R's would be awesome for Montana... where do you live out there? I lived in Kalispell/whitefish area for 2 years! I LOVEE it out there. I will always consider it a place to call home and could see buying a house out there one of these days!
