just turned 60,000 miles on my '12 TDI. Have had no issues at all and use it to tow my 996 race car. tows like a champ. Have never been thrilled with the drivers seat, which i know is very personal. think i would prefer a more firm, sporty seat like the cayenne.

I've had my Touareg for about 8 years now and 150k miles. The tranny went at around 55k miles and luckily extended warranty covered that $5-6k repair with a brand new one. IMHO, it's one of the most oxymoronic cars out there: very durable, yet not the most reliable. If it wasn't for the extended warranty, I'd probably have spent around $10-12k in repairs (excluding maintenance) but can only second what everyone has said above regarding rigidity. It's a very solid car, won't disappoint in any weather. The ride is nice and soft with air suspension if you opt for that and you get your hint of luxuriousness with a decent amount of options.

Despite the reliability issues, I clearly love the car enough that it hasn't swayed me to get rid of it. I think if you are warranty covered and enjoy your test drive, it won't be a bad choice!

My Touareg

My 2013 Touareg TDI Executive is one of my favorite cars that I've ever had. The value is there so much compared to something like a Cayenne or a Q7. The Executive I think is well worth it but all Touareg models are amazing. Gorgeous cars actually, and where I live, they're pretty rare.. Here's a pic of mine below...

We've had a '13 Touareg V6 Sport for a little more than a year now. We bought it with 13k on it and got a long extended warranty. Its been a surprisingly fun, capable SUV. We drive it back and forth for skiing all winter and it will go through any snow storm. It gets about 23 mpg on average which isn't too bad. We've had zero problems with it so far, its very solid.

The Touareg TDI would be my next SUV if I decide to go that route.

Any TDI owners having issues at the pump with the higher percentages of Bio Diesel found at the stations? Here in Illinois, they are adding as much as 20% Bio into the blend which I hear is not good for the TDI. I believe VW only recommends up to B5 (5%) Bio Diesel to be used.

I bought a 2005 CPO V8 back in 2008 and it is the best car I have ever owned up to the point where I just recently bought a 2012 Porsche Panamera Turbo, but that is a completely different class of automobile. I have 75,000 miles on it and it is fully optioned and purring like a kitten.
