I think you're right that it won't be long until an EV takes the crown, but I still think two seconds is a big delta to make up... And given that F1 cars are made to rules, there's always the possibility that something like the Aston Valkyrie — which doesn't have to conform to any spec — will best the F1 cars first. Regardless, Goodwood will be interesting for generations to come!
no question they will surpass the record. short stints and torque (and even low center of gravity) are what EVs are all about. long distance and range are the achilles heel of the EV. they're just typically not built with superior handling in mind. add that component and they will likely be phenomenal hillclimb type cars.
