the only car on the market that is on level w/ the phaeton in terms of engineering is the bentley Flying Spur..
because they share most parts and chassis

I've been into a v10 5.0 TDI 2 days ago with a friend of mine, he bought the car slightly used for its dad. The car is amazing. Individual rear seats and all kind of gadgets. I'd buy one

 

I think you are mistaken. The decision to make this car was that of Piech, not Porsche. For clarification, Ferry Porsche died about a decade ago and he was the brother of Piech's mom, or his uncle.

Good friend of mine has one. He only drives it to breakfast on Sundays, occasionally other places. Kinda feel sorry he bought it brand new...they did take a huge hit on resale. Very nice car though.

If I could actually get one for $23,000 somewhere without a load of miles, I'd have a plane ticket out of here. The only killer would be grey interior, I really, really don't like the grey.

 

My dad had a Phaeton V8, awesome car. I'm pretty sure you won't find another car like the Phaeton in this price range (thank god my dad bought it used, they depreciate like hell), but don't underestimate the cost for spare parts and maintenance, it certainly isn't cheaper than any other luxury sedan.
