996 C2 fitments

Hey Guys. I am picking up my friend's 99 996 C2 in a couple weeks (hopefully)...and I want to check on track wheel/tire fitments. What is the best setup? What is the recommended rim width (10 vs 11) and tire size (265,275,285,295) for rear, and what is max offset that will fit?

Any input would be helpful. The car has a set of ROH Modena's 18x10 with 275/35/18s now, but I need something lightweight that maximizes contact patch for the track..

Thanks in advance!

If you buy a well built set of wheels, you wont need to worry about offset, as it will be tailored to the car. Widest tire I think on a C2 would be a 295.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully I'll find a good set of wheels that'll fit.

pics...can't wait

hey man. I don't have pics yet. I'll be buying the car in a couple weeks, but it's a true beauty. I designed most of the modification for it....1999 C2 Guard's Red w/ROH Modena 18x8.5s up front with 1" lip, 18x10.5s rear with 1.5" lip. turbo-style fixed post wing (replacement deck lid) rear, GT3 replica oem-fit front fascia...alcantara headliner with cargraphic alcantara-wrapped sport steering wheel, GT3 seats, Bilstein PSS9s, smoked side marker lights, Fabspeed Headers and mufflers w/aftermarket tips, B&M short-shifter w/Evo MS billet aluminum linkage (BY FAR best upgrade), Pioneer flip-face DVD stereo system, and I will be adding a harness bar with Schroth harnesses and camera mount, and picking up a set of track wheels (still deciding) and want to trade the ROHs for something else.

I'll make sure to post an official "new to the block" thread once I make the buy

you may want a set of stock rims for tracking. they are very light and can be found fairly cheap especially if they are cosmetically imperfect.

I used to have a sef 19x10.5" and 19"x8.5" Gemballa 3 piece wheels with I think 285's on back and 225's up front....I tracked the car a few times and it felt pretty good, and with no rubbing....it was pretty low...a bit too low....
