Anyone know how the Ventus are as far as road noise and comfort for a 997? I don't track at all, and barely drive the car aggressively. Just need a set of inexpensive tires for a daily driver. Thanks!

The reviews indicate they are quiet and quite sticky. I just can't ignore the reviews these tires are getting compared to the special price so I just ordered a set from Onlinetires.com for $700 shipped to MD....plus you get a $50 mail in rebate.

I'll give a review once I get them on my new Forgestar wheels which won't be here until the end of Aug/begin Sept.

I honestly sell almost none of them for Porsche. So far. It's a fairly new tire to 997 sizing so the word is still getting out. They are OK for light performance, and would work for commuters. But I would not say they are PS2 caliber howerever by a long shot.

Time will tell....

The few that have the V12 already IN ADDITION to the print reviews out there indicate the complete opposite. Check out Car & Drivers review. The V12 matches the PS2 in every category. I'm not knocking the PS2 at all. Hell, they are on my C2S right now....they're just way overpriced.

They may not be better but they are absolutely PS2 caliber. On par with "God's tire" at 40% of the cost sounds pretty damn compelling to me. I know there will be those that won't even consider anything other than PS2's...I ain't one of them. I'll take my $1k savings and put towards other mods like an exhaust or suspension.

Talk about a lot of OT in this thread, starting with PS2 or V12 and then just a bunch about other tires.

However, I say go V12 for the price and the present quality that has been established from Hankook. Hankook deliver OEM to Audi so that should be pretty good proof of quality.

On the sport tire side, there are some really really consistent, quiet and grippy tires out from Hankook tires out according to reviews, such as RS3 and V12. I've run the RS3 a lot and I really love that tire, a shame it does not exist in wider than 285 for 18, but there are a lot of 19 from V12 which is the documented PS2 contender right now.

Just checked TireRack's pricing on these. Looks like $794.02 SHIPPED less $50 rebate. So that's $744.02 versus $1,752.64 for PS2s! 57% cheaper so, even if only 85%+ the pS2 performance, what a bargain! I'm going to give these a try when my PS2s wear out!

Tire Rack was clearing out Hankook Ventus S1 evo's dirt cheap last month so I went for it. 275/40-19 only $99. Certainly not a sticky auto-x "R" compound tire but for some cheap tires to burn off on the .8mi twisty kart track I play on they worked great. After 6-7 continuous laps the tires start to overheat and get a little greasy so just sprayed them with water and let em cool off and go out again. They seem better than the RE050A that came stock on the car so I'm very happy with them.
