3-Piece Wheel Mania

I'm looking at all the different 3-piece wheel companies to find some new wheels for a 997TT. I'm trying to decide what is good quality for the price, but with all of these different brands it's quite confusing. Many look the same and say generally the same thing on there websites. I was told Fikse was a good product and used in racing, but heard they're out of bus. I like the looks of 360 forged, but read they are also having problems shipping orders. HRE seems to be well known and I see there ads everywhere.

I also just read on another post that one company in So Cal makes many of the wheels for these companies?

What should I be asking and looking for in a high quality wheel for my 997TT?

Thanks for the help!

The first thing in choosing a wheel is the reputation of the wheel company. You want to stick with well known companies. Many wheel companies actually do not manufacture they own wheels. They are usually contracted out.

I would stick with big names like HRE and BBS. They manufacture their own wheels and have been known for quality for many many years. There are other wheel companies that have some great looking wheels too. Just do some homework. Everyone claims their wheels are this and that. Don't believe all the hype. See what the majority of the forum members here put on their cars. It is usually a good indicator of which wheel brands are trusted.

How about a set of RS1 Forged (our in house wheel brand) at a great price. I happen to have a brand new set of both styles in 997TT fitment in stock, could ship within a week.

Here's the Type RS1, available in 20 inch. Ready to be colored to your preferrence, assembled and shipped:

And we also have our Type RSR, available in 19 inch, again ready to be colored, assembled, and shipped out:

Both styles are 3-piece, with 6061 forged aluminum centers, and spun aluminum barrels, with chrome lips. The quality of these wheels parallels HRE, Fikse, and others. Because our in house line is also emerging and not yet as popular as other brands, there's also some exclusivity in that you probably won't run up on someone else with your exact wheels. Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. Happy to help out our loyal 6Speeders.

Hello Centerlock,

We do a pretty good mix of both 19" and 20" setups. What will be the intended use of the vehicle/wheels? We have a number of different options to support a track car or a high performance street car. Either way we can provide you with a wheel that will make you very happy.

Also, if you happen to be in the San Diego area on the 5th of December we are having an Open Housei and drive to the Mira Mar Toys for Tots car show. We'd love to see you there. We love showing people exactly what makes HRE different from all the other companies.
