Well not for me. I was told by HRE that is the way they are. So I disagree with your statement. You try to drive a car with all 4 wheels vibrating in the rain when you go over 65 mph and pay 4500 for them and all they send you is water deflectors that do basically nothing.

I've heard of this problem with the reverse style of rims years ago on the Corvette's. Is this unique to reverse style 3-piece rims with the big outer lip?

Just curious, what model wheels do you have? I have 445rs but I don't drive my car in the rain. I do notice that when I rinse down the wheels after washing my car, there is a puddle of water at the bottom of the center section of the inner barrel. Is this what you mean by the water getting trapped?

I have the 18" 891R series with the hidden bolts. I do not know where the water goes but after I bought them I was told this was an issue. I just use them in the summer. I wish somebody told me before I bought them. Has something to do with the reverse lip

Its common knowledge that the reverse drop wheel traps rain water, this is what causes the vibration. When I owned my 540R's I was told this before I ordered the wheels. Since I didn't drive the car in the rain it was a non issue. Too bad somebody didn't tell you that before you ordered them.

My experience with HRE was not good. In the end, their customer service was NOT good at all. What made me so mad was that I put in many calls to Alan and he NEVER once returned my call! He would have Guy or Chris call me back. I put the ball in their court to handle the situation and they dropped it. Maybe if I drove a Ferrari or Porsche they may have handled it different.

Wheels look awesome on your car!

I have 2 Porsche's and I will not be getting HRE wheels again. The ones I have on my Audi S4 are useless in the rain. I am sure the one piece are OK but not knowing was my mistake

BUT, they should have been up front and told you of any problems or issues before you bought them!

Arnie, I am curious if you bought the HRE's from a distributor or HRE directly?

From a distributor but I called HRE and they did not want to help me and they were aware of the problem. All they gave me were these little pieces of metal that I had to bolt on to the nuts on the back of the rim and they just raised the speed 3 miles an hour before the vibration started again. Another issue which I did not mention is that the inside of the wheels are not coated so they react with the brake dust and can not be cleaned. So the inside of the rims look bad. Just a bad design and execution.

Arnie1 I don't mean to be rude when I say this but for heaven's sake you should have done your homework before you ordered your wheels. Every company that makes a reverse drop wheel has this same problem not just HRE. As for cleaning the the inner barrels what's the problem? I have had many sets of wheels from HRE and Fikse and cleaning the inner barrels is a none issue. Pull the wheels off spray them down with Simple green and scrub them down. If you have some stubborn spots how about some steel wool and then WD40 to protect the metal. If this is that important to you why didn't you have the inner barrels clear coated/powder coated when you bought them and then this would be a mute point. How did you think raw unprotected aluminum would react to the elements? The more you run off with this the more uniformed you look. HRE sold you what you asked for period. Do you expect them to read between the lines and anticipate your issues down the road? Has the wheel been anything other than what they advertised?

So you only dealt with HRE after the purchase. I would say that the dealer/vendor you bought them from should have warned you if anyone. I specifically had the clearcoat on the inner barrels applied due to my dealer telling me it might be a good idea.

I think that if HRE even helped resolve the problem then they gave you good customer service. If you bought a Plasma TV from Best Buy and they didn't tell you it could wash out in the sunlight then Pioneer is not going to fix your windows.

Not trying to be an a** here but this is not an HRE problem. If you don't like their wheel design that is one thing, saying they don't have good customer service is a totally different topic in my opinion.

I recently had my HREs completely rebuilt back in November and dealt with Vince who was a pleasure to deal with. I had bought the wheels used in September and they were not taken care of at all by the previous owner. So I had all inner and outer barrels replaced, changed the centers finish from black to brushed aluminum, and had new front centers cut to clear the Brembos. Reason for having new centers cut in front was because one of the originals was bent and they didn't notice it until the wheel was completely put back together. Vince called me, apologized for not spotting it before the wheel was reassembled, and said he would take 20% off the total bill if I chose to have new front centers cut. The original centers in front needed a spacer to clear the brakes which I was never happy about, so I had them cut new ones. I had dropped off the wheels in person and Vince originally thought I would be picking them up as well. I got an email around 3pm from Vince saying the wheels were all done and ready for pickup. I replied back and told him I needed the wheels shipped back to me. 9:30am the next morning, a Van is outside dropping the wheels off at my house. I thought that was pretty cool how he overnighted them on their dime for me.

Overall I'm very happy with their service and with how the wheels turned out. Hopefully the clear coat will last for some time and I can avoid all the potholes we have here in our great L.A. streets
