Hankook Ventus R-S3

Hi,
I look for a tires set for a next season, I got my primary r-comps already for track rims and I look for a best cheap street practice/auto-x/track selection and se those r-s3 hankooks, people say they have decent grip and are dirt cheap, so, can anybody here comment - do they have any grip at all in the rain?
Also, are they worth spending $800 on them? I plan to put them on a stock rims - 18" 8" f 10" rear in 245/285 sizes. Have anyone here tried that?

Also, will those tires last at least whole season/year with 1-2 DEs and 1-2 auto-x days and appx 5K street miles? How are they in cold - what is the temperature when they turn into glass?

I see. Thanks.
Right now i got old PA2 winter tires for a street and after not using them for almost an year it was quite a shocker to feel no grip at all. I took car on them to auto-x and it was quite fun - rear end had 0 traction compared to 265/335 kumho v700 set i usually use. it sort of helped to practice and work on proper running line but to run like this on a public road is a complete madness.

too bad those hankooks are not good in rain... still i probably will try them on.

well all high and ultra summer performance tires arent the best in slippery when wet situations lol but they are not bad at all... last time i went to a auto x meet it was 101 degrees on the tarmac and those tire keep me rubber side down when others were still breaking there tire loose at hot sticky tarmac lol...

I think BF Goodrich KDW II will give you grip with water but they will get noisy as you wear them down.
