does anyone know good rim protectors for curb damages?
Hi,
I am looking for rim protectors (?) that would prevent curb damages to the rims. I've seen a couple on cars driving around - its basically a metal (or plastic) band that you attach to the edge of the rims. I've found one that are called Rim Ringz, but they only go up to 20" - I am looking for 22. I've tried googling, but cannot get many results. Maybe there is a specific name for them? Thanks very much.

I think what you are seeing and referring to are not rim protectors at all. They are called bead locks, and I use them for our off road race trucks to prevent the tires from catastrophic departure from the rims under extreme conditions. They may protect the rim as a side benefit, but real beadlocks are drilled right onto the rim. Not sure you'd want to do that to our pretty street cars!
Commonly anodized aluminum, but I've seen cheesy plastic replicas to make people think you have beadlocks. Pretty lame and PEP Boys look. My guess is that they sell them!

Doesn't it defeat the benefit of nice rims if you have to cover them all the time? Doesn't seem like something you could put on and take off on a regular basis (since that would require more forethought than remembering to not get too close to the curb
). Just leave yourself some extra room. I've had to remind myself about this when it comes to parking stops and my front spoiler

I wish someone was making similar ones.

Many tires have rim protection flanges built into their sidewalls to prevent curb rash and other contact damage. This may be the first option to look at, as it will not take away from the aesthetics of your wheels.
