please help. damaged tire question
please help. damaged tire question
can this tire still be used.
i have read that damage to the sidewall can lower the speed rating and can result in high speed blowout.
But I havent actually seen a picture of what is thought to be considerable damage.
Here is a pic of a michelin PS2 with a round piece of tire missing you can see it is a small area and not very deep.
i dont track the car and rarely go above 80mph
so what do you guys think?
thanks

Most of the rubber missing is the rim protector band, which doesn't really have much use other than avoiding wheel damage. I doubt you did any damage to the integrity of the tires unless you see ANYTHING but rubber at the bottom of the inclusion. Keep an eye on it, if it starts to delaminate in any way on the side of the divot, get rid of the tire. And DON'T use it on the track.
