No, that was no typo, fifty-thousand on-track miles, or as the Europeans describe it, 80,000 kilometers. With an odometer reading of 230,000KMs this 996 GT3 Club Sport has withstood the test of time.

Boosted Boris is back again, reporting from the Nurburgring in Germany, where a truly spectacular oddity has emerged from the crowd of cars there to lap the ‘Ring. This gentleman has been campaigning his 996 GT3CS for many years around Europe’s race tracks. Boris rides along for an out lap and a flyer around the Nordschleife and it’s clear that those weren’t easy miles and that this guy wasn’t there to pussyfoot around.

At the end of it all, our main comrade Boris gets in a few quick questions about the life of this particular Porsche. In short, it had a basic engine rebuild done at 210,000kms/130,000 miles, it’s on it’s third clutch, and the aftermarket dampers have been rebuilt once. Beyond that, the car has been quite reliable, which is astonishing considering that this is an 8000RPM+ capable engine that has clearly spent a lot of time chasing the red line. Praise be the Mezger engine. The bit about the engine lasting 130,000 miles, with approximately 40-45,000 track miles is an astonishing testament to the durability of the Mezger and to Porsche’s in general. So don’t be afraid to hit up a few track days a year, your Porsche can take it with ease.
