Rumor: Next-Gen 911 GT2 Will Have 552 Horsepower?

Take this one with a grain of salt, but according to Autocar, Porsche’s next generation GT2 will make just over 550 horsepower. They say it’ll “borrow the mechanical package of the new Turbo S,” which means that it’ll retain the 3.8 liter flat-six and PDK.

That might seem odd at first. Porsche’s latest Turbo S makes 560 horsepower out of the box, so, it’s hard for me to believe that the GT2 will have less power. The thing to remember is that the GT2 loses the weight of all-wheel-drive in exchange for fatter rear tires and sharper steering. Not everything can be measured in horsepower numbers.

That said, there will probably be an RS model eventually. Autocar says we should expect that absurdly powerful Porsche to be revealed in 2015.
