the best deals i have seen up here are dealer stock of gen 1 left overs. i have bounced various offers on a few and they were all lower than what some people were asking for used ones! asking and getting are different!

I just bought one Friday...

Hey all...new guy here...1st post.

I bit the bullet Friday and purchased a CPO'ed, '06 911 4S....I didnt get a steal, but I think I did good. Ive been looking for weeks now and only saw steals on non S 911's. As much as I wanted to save the coin, I knew Id be disapointed if I didnt get what I really wanted, so I spent a little more and got the 4S.

I bought this:

I look forward to browsing the forums and soaking up knowledge and ideas (damn I want LED tail lights)

Sorry if its tacky talking about the $$$,

but maybe it will help some prospective buyers out there.

I got it for 62K, but I bought it out of state, so I saved a ****load on taxes. I definitely wanted the 4S over the S, and there werent nearly as many 4S's out there.

I know I could have negotiated harder, and saved a little bit more (maybe 1-2K)...but I was DONE searching and obsessing over the car (the wife was especially done with me obsessing). Also, Ive lost a car I wanted because I was holding out for 500 bucks and I was really bummed; I didnt want that to happen again for just a few bucks more.

The deal clincher was the dealer said he'd put clear side markers on...what a generous guy...

Make an offer, and see if they're willing to play. Most sellers are open to giving a slight bargain, I'm sure.

yes...

that was WAY more important to me than the sport chrono...it was one of the only reasonable priced 4S's I found with it equipped.

Just an FYI...I loved the 4S for the aesthetic over the S; I just love those wide hips on the rear end.

The only problem with the car is that I dont get it until 4/7! So much for not obsessing over the car. Now, instead of finding the car I want to buy, Im dreaming of heel toe'ing and other advanced driving techniques, casually zipping along a twisty country road, etc. This will be a looong week.

I made them offer first. They wanted 63,700 w/o it CPO'ed, and 65 with the CPO designate. I countered at 59, we both did the negotiating dance of going back and forth to find a middle ground, and in the end I got it for 62, CPO'ed, as well as getting it shipped from AZ to IL. I almost forgot about the 15 dollar clear markers! Like I said, that sealed the deal ;-)

Please excuse the stupidity of this question, but what is it about the tail pipes that tells you he has SE?

This must be a different Illinois than I remember - wait until you register it; THAT'S when you'll get to pay your sales tax.

(How much do you want for the Ferrari Tag on the back of it ? )

Im not sure...

...as much as IL is f***** re: taxes, my boss bought a Maserati out of state a few years ago, and it was under 1K to get it all taken care of...

We'll see how much I get dinged. Watch Ill pay 6K and my boss, who is loaded, will get away with murder and just happened to get lucky.

Its all worth it though...my first truly legit car!

Whats the consensus of the deal? I know I could have probably done a tad better, but Id like your opinions.

Yeah i dont think buying out of state will do anything for your tax billl...any car you buy out of state or in state will have chicago taxes collected at registration. If you know of something different please PM me and let me know.

Great looking car btw...I'm looking for a Targa or C4/C4S now.
