So where are all the inexpensive 911s? :)

I've been looking.. ebay, cars.com, autotrader... but man, where are they? People on here seem to think that a 06 well equipped should be very low 50's (which is in my range) but the best I see is very high 50's, mostly mid to low 60's.

Even an 05 launch car.. best I can find in the northeast is $56K. These cars with 15K miles or so should be high $40's right?

Should we blame this on summer?!

The other thing I wanted to ask about is dealing on cars with dealers. I've yet to find one that is willing to dicker.

Not a bad deal for under $50k asking, and a nice color. But that pcar does not have PASM (stated in the listing) - So many dealers mistake "PSM" for "PASM"...

To be honest...a lot of the good deals that have been had recently are from desperate sellers. The ones that can hold on to the cars are going to hold on to them and aren't going to take a blood bath. The fact that Porsche has cut production on the 09 models and I do feel we are going to be turning the corner on the economy probably by the end of the summer (not going to boom mind you but stabalize) means people will probably rather hold on to the car than having to take a beating. I know in my case I would have to come up with $10k+ to get out of my car if I took what some of you feel the cars are worth..at that rate I might as well keep the car and enjoy it.

Dave

Asking prices vary greatly from selling prices. Just try talking to some of these dealers and you'd be surprised how much they may go down. Also, I think car sales are picking up a little bit, as a lot of the Porsche owners already dumped their 997.1's for the 997.2's creating a mini glut in the market which is slowly being mopped up.

Agreed. One great approach is not to show any emotion when test driving a car. The less interested you are, while demonstrating you're capable of closing a deal that day if the right price is stuck is a strong method.

On the other hand, letting them know you can pay cash is not always the best approach. Dealers can make a good bit of extra profit by you financing the car through their network (either Porsche Financial Servces, or another bank). So I think a better approach is to let them know your credit score is 790 and you're a shoe-in for financing. Then after your price is struck, break out your checkbook.

Try Park Place Porsche in Dallas. They have some great deals. Currently they have a 2007 C2 for 54K and a 2006 C2 for 49K.

The best deals came about when people were foolish enough to ask other 6Speeders what their car was worth. Those cars sold quickly. The remainder haven't asked, so their prices are closer to market value.

True-- Dealership sales people are trained to look for these signs following a test drive. Uncontrollable drooling, bouts of giggling, permanent grin and (in extreme cases) popping a woodie are dead giveaways ...
