Check your DV's
My DVs are made by Bailey, and are billet units. I've pulled them twice in 2.5 years, but never seen an issue with them functioning.
This is good to know, and sorry you're going thru this Chris... However, I've never been told to pull and inspect DVs every 6-12 months. That seems a bit much, if you have good quality units.

About 6 weeks ago I blew another driver side turbo, at first it was a coincidence that it was the 2nd failed driver side turbo but after some investigation we have found a probable significant contributor to the problem.
A few years ago I had the dealer install some aftermarket DV's along with the the GIAC stage 2 mod, the receipt reads "forged dv's", after pulling the engine to do an inspection of all oil feed lines, etc, we found that both DV caps were about one turn from coming off completely. "A one year old would have been able to remove them" my tech says. This has probably been robbing me of power as well as damaging the turbos
The next question took me by surprise-
Tech: when's the last time you inspected them?
Me: They need to be inspected?
Tech: Yeah, every 6-12 months
Me: Uhhh...never, had no idea they needed to be inspected.
Anyone else ever hear/read about checking the diverters on a regular basis???
Another lesson learned is to check what you bought, I didnt have forged, I had a lower quality evos (not to be confused with EVOMs, but I think there may be or have been a relationship). Appearently the evos are infamous for the caps coming loose
Probably a good time to check your DV's, check the springs and diaghrams, make sure the caps are tight and make sure you got what you paid for.

What is this pic of then? What does the rod control?
I mean I believe you when you say DV's on top of engine. Just wondering that this a picture of?

Sincerely,
Macster.

looks like turbo to cats and turbo oil sump, the lever is connected to the wastegate actuator rod which goes to the wastegates. Diverters are on top of the motor, left side just right of the intake. See if one of us can find a pic for you.
I'm heading back there this summer, they should remember me from 3-4 years ago :-) I hear you though, this does suck, but the lesson is to make sure you get what you buy :-/
The fact that the receipt reads "forged dv's" and you found out that they aren't makes me think you should be going to the dealer about this issue and DEMAND that they fix it at their cost. Also let them know that they never told you that routine maintenance was required with these.
When I went to EPL for flash and diverters, they took the time to explain the options, performance, and maintenance implications of each type. They clearly told me about the need for regular maintenance cleaning and lubrication of the forged DV's approximately every 15,000 miles. Work with a first rate tuner shop like EPL.
I'm wondering if folks are confusing the fact that a DV might be marked "forged" rather than "Forge". I don't know if knock-offs are using the term to make folks think they're getting a Forge unit. If you examine the construction of a number of them, most of which are made in China and labelled by various distributors, they are all billet, they unscrew at the top, have a 90 degree swivel hose connection at the top, and they have the piston and spring inside. One iteration has some sort of rubber O ring inside which is supposed to make a better seal, but I see that as a potential point of failure and need for periodic cleaning and lubing to keep the O rings from wearing.
As much as I hate the thought of it, I'm going to have to go pull mine, take a look, and use the time to service them. It's been a good 15K miles since I installed them.
