Pretty sure my GTS has the same problem.

 

I recommend you hit the dealer before you get too far along in the process. Bring the kids and the seat along to see if it's going to work.

 

That's a good point. We like the Audi's too..and they're the same dealership in Nashua, so we'll kill two birds w/one stone.

In terms of fun-to-drive, comfort, features, 4WD, and everyday practicality, I believe it's THE best SUV on the market. The only short-coming is interior space. With two full-size car seats in the back, there's not too much room for a fifth person in between. Also, the cargo space is just okay. It's no Suburban! However, for us it's big enough. As long as you're honest about how much seating and cargo space you'll need, this is THE truck, period! I say that because you can get some tremendous deals. I leased my wife a '09 Cayenne-S (MSRP $70k) for $725/month with $0 down for 36-months, 15k miles/year, including tax which in PA is 9%. It was the dealership owner's car and had 7k miles when we got it. You can't lease a Honda Pilot EX-L for much less than this. Good luck!

Most people don't need as much space as they think, although it's nice to have 1-2 times/year. That's the situation I was in with my Yukon and a string of big SUVs before that one. I thought I needed something that big because we took a couple of road trips each year where we used all the space. Now I just haul a utility trailer and enjoy the drive more, as well as the entire ownership experience.

I bought my 2008 GTS in May of this year. It was a leftover with 97 miles on it, never titled. I got it for $63,000. At the time, it was cheaper than a used GTS.

 

another note... this suv handles like a sport sedan. no joke.. absolutely out corners and handles better than many 4 doors out there. Most who sit in the car when I drive it are amazed at how well it does in the canyons and freeway on ramps.

 

I had an '04 Cayenne S and it is the best handling, best driving truck/SUV made - nothing else comes close. But, it did have a large number of things that I would take it into the shop for. I'd go for an '08 or newer if you can swing it.

 

We love our '08 GTS, best SUV I have ever owned hands down. For road trips I bought a Thule cargo box, works great.

 

Already have 30K on my crazy orange '09 GTS 6-speed and LOVE it (delivered it in July 2008). Only problems have been a broken tooth on the parking brake mechanism right after purchase and just had the horn replaced after it stopped working a few days ago. My best investment was switching to Porterfield carbon-kevlar brake pads...the brake dust with the standard pads was driving me crazy. The leather/alcantara sport seats are amazingly comfortable and show virtually no wear...the interior still looks absolutely brand-new. It also burns very little oil (maybe this is more of a problem with the TT??). In all, no regrets at all...it's a fabulous vehicle.

 

I had an 04S...best SUV I've ever owned! Waiting for the new model to come out and I am trading my Lexus GX 470 for an S! Can not wait!
