My wife's lease is up on her denali in the spring, and she has started the search for a new vehicle. I recently bought a 996 turbo, and she loves it nearly as much as I do. So, that has her thinking about the cayenne. Any worthwhile objective feedback...positive or negative?

I'll read some of the other threads on here as well, but just wanted to see what you guys had to say. Thx!

 

I've had mine for three years now and still love it and going strong with 80k miles on it!, bought a 996tt cab for weekend fun, my daughter starts to drive solo next August and for the safety reasons I will let her drive my old Cayenne. I was going to buy a 09' Cayenne turbo S but now the more I see the Panamera Turbo's well it may be a tough decision. Either way if it was stolen or wrecked tomorrow I would definitely buy another one hands down. Some friends of ours had the same deal with the lease up on her Tahoe, I let her drive mine for a day and she loved it, there son bought an Cayenne S and she now gives the son her Tahoe and she takes the Cayenne, she is looking at buying a used Cayenne S when her lease expires next month.

 

I had a Cayenne S for 4 years, then upgraded to current Cayenne Turbo that I have for 2 years.

If you love driving and need to buy an SUV, the Cayennes will not disappoint you.

 

I've got an 04 S that just passed 60k miles - while I always want a bit more power, the turbo would only serve to get me in trouble .

If you go and drive one, I think you'd be shocked at how well this truck corners - true Porsche under there. I like the size of it too - not quite as large as a Denali, but not small either.

I use 19" wheels with 275 40's (Michelin Lattitudes) in the summer and 18" wheels with 255 55's in the winter (I'm mounting up some Nokian WR G2s tomorrow). This truck absolutely shines with the Lattitudes - I know many on here are running even bigger wheels and love them.

I will say, though, that I'm shocked at how many dumb little things I had to bring this in to get fixed - mostly all done under warranty, but still - quite a bit more than our Boxster or Audi S6.

I think you'd both be quite happy - my wife loves the Cayenne.

Have had mine over a year and had 61k miles and an 05 TT. I to was shocked at how much time it spent in the shop the first year. So glad I bought an ext warranty which has paid 2.5 times itself in 15 mos.

Love the suv though. I can't see myself DD'ing any thing else. I thought my wifes 07 RR sport SC drove awsome until I drove the CTT for a few months. No comparison at all. Just had a new tranny put in under ext wrrty. Also, was time to do front/rear rotors and pads. Car feels like brand new now. Go for the Turbo or Turbo S if you can. Prices are nice today.

 

I bought my Cayenne GTS earlier this year. I already have more than 8000 miles on it.

I've been really happy with the vehicle. With the 6spd manual and PDCC, it drives more like a sport wagon than an SUV.

 

We got a '08 CTT earlier this year and me and the wifey both love it. My son loves it too. He sits up high in the back and can see everything much better than in her tiny little S4.

It runs and drive so good. Mine has the PDCC. I let my brother drive it and he was blown away by it's handling, yet still comfortable ride.

We've averaged 17.7 mpg since we got it, too!!! It will get 19+ on the highway, less if you cruise 80+ mph.

 

That's an impressive average. Don't get the manual if you want the best fuel economy The shorter gearing is nice, but greatly reduces mpg. My best highway mileage has been 16.3 and that was 100% highway.

 

Well, my wife drives it like a grandma and I don't drive that often and if I do it's usually highway. I was still very happy with that average.

 

Guys...that's a lot of feedback, and mostly good feedback too, so thank you for taking the time to chime in. I love my porsche more and more every day and my only regret is that I didn't buy one sooner. I knew I was in trouble after the first time my wife drove the car, so I immediately had to strategize about how to get out of this (w/my toy in tact).

We like to have 7 seats and it comes in handy. At this point, the 5 seat aspect is the only hump we have to get over (now that we've gotten good feedback).

 

The Cayenne is tight inside. I don't think you can fit 5 adults in it comfortably, I treat mine as a 4 seater. FWIW, my previous utility vehicle was a 2008 Yukon XL Denali, too. The only thing nice about that thing was the interior volume. Very happy to be rid of it.

 

That's exactly what we have, but an 07 I believe. Prior to the cayenne consideration, she couldn't even fathom going from XL to standard. I don't need to fit 5 adults, but I do need 3 kids in the back w/a 4pt harness seat, and a child on each side...so hopefully that configuation can work.??

 

My wife is on her 2nd Cayenne, first one was a 2005, now we have an 09. The 09 is actually much more intuitive than the 1st generation Cayenne. She drives like a grandma but mpg is still in the 18 range all the time. We have 1 kid, and the car is absolutely perfect for what we do. We go to the local socal mtns every winter, and the awd is great in snow, we have a set of chains for when its gets real bad. It's a great car for us to take to vegas, desert, mtn, snow, city and highway driving. I agree with previous post, space is limited, so if you want to seat 5 adults, it won't happen comfortably in this car. Even the trunk space is limited, but for the 3 of us, it's not a huge issue.

 

I also have a 6-speed w/pdcc and secondary cat bypass pipes that gets rotten mileage. Frankly, though, I think it is my right foot more than the gearing..... I gladly pay for the extra gasoline.

 

Fantastic vehicle, fun to drive and feels very safe.

IMO, they have combined all the best features of other vehicles out there into one complete package.
The cost of maintenance and fuel consumption are the only downside, but well worth the price of admission.
The best mileage I can get is 14.1 L/100 Km city and 10.1 L/100 Km hwy.
I have the V8, but I don't think that the V6 does much better as it has to work that much harder.
