991.2 Intro
#2
There are some threads on this in the forum with spy footage etc for the 991.2. I have yet to see anything on order date but the speculation is it is a MY16. If this is true it would not be out until next summer.

yeah all the stories on this I saw indicated it would be MY2016.. or late in '15.. for the base and S.. with others models to follow.. The indication was 16 would be half way through the 991 product life. So that would imply it being sold through about 2019...
Funny thing was one of the stories about hybrid 911's from Porsche a couple of months ago indicated that a hybrid might come about 2019 or so.. So that would align with a hybrid in the next generation 911 that succeeds 991.
From the reports it really didn't seem to be all that much new. But then again that was just the exterior. I'm definitely in the camp that doesn't think they will do any major engine changes or offer a 4cyl Turbo.. just would be to messy in terms of product placement with the Turbo and Turbo's.. That engine is going to find it's way into boxsters or Caymens first I'm sure.

My sources tell me that they are going to take a 911 body and put it on top of a Cayman GTS frame and it's going to be all engine from midway to tail pipe. You sit actually under the engine and use a periscope to see the road. This was designed by Porsche just to appease the 3,000 6 speed threads on whether someone should buy one or the other. Now it's settled. Buy the new 911 Cayman !!

M5 if the MY2016 comes out next summer my guess would be you'll be able to order next spring. The big auto shows are coming up in The fall, possibly Porsche will show off a 991.2. It's all speculation at this point.

Those are actually the infrared sensors which turn off peoples cable boxes as you drive down the street. Really pisses them off.

Isn't there usually a change first in the engine in the 9XX.2 cars that will carry over to the new body (2019)?
The 997.2 in 2009 went with the DFI engine (adding HP and TQ) and the PDK so both engine and transmission were changed.
Can we expect maybe a variation of the 991 GT3 PDK in the new 991.2 cars? Maybe more HP as well. I guess they need to also make room for the GTS which should have the power kit with even more HP. Rear steering added in 2019 cars also with the hybrid models.....

Porsche had this active grill front intake feature on their 928 model 27 years ago ( opened at stop and go speeds for better cooling and closed at highway speeds for improved aerodynamics)
