Just added V12 Vantage with manual to my garage( still have my V8 manual Vantage) For a start, so much better softer/easier clutch pedal than my V8. Now just making my to do list.
1. Carfax report shows it has been serviced regularly at Aston dealer in Arizona but don't have any actual repair orders, so I'll start by doing all the fluids, filters, belt & spark plugs. ( car has 14k miles & it's 13 years old) I want to make sure everything is up to date.
2. Want to do couple of mods. Velocity AP ECU tune & VAP secondary decat X-pipe, would like to get better exhaust tone & bit more HP.
3. thinking about doing VAP springs & maybe 11MM H&R spacers ( too much gap between tire & fender.
Anyone with V12, have you done any of this mods, if yes, what's your opinion?
2011 V12 Aston Martin Vantage manual trans magma red centari,
Congrats…in not even slightly jealous…😅..great looking car…best looking shifter in the business…in colour…and a v12…that’s an upgrade I would love to make…enjoy….
It's a beautiful car! I would go with secondary decat pipes and not an x pipe. X pipes going to quiet it way down, decats going to wake it up, but that's a personal choice.
Congratulations and welcome to V12V ownership! Magma red is a beautiful shade.
I've had my Mako car for a few years now and as mentioned above, go with the secondary decat as opposed to the X-pipe. I purchased both and kept the secondary decat, it does make it a bit louder but not in a bad way.
Aside from that, I haven't done any other modifications. The car is phenomenal as. I'd do the decat and drive it like that for a bit before committing to a tune or other.
These are a substansubstantially stiffer ride than the V8 Vantage, something to take note of. Springs and spacers are a personal choice, but I haven't done them.
Thanks everyone.
To add for the exhaust mod, on my V8 I have a decat pipes, but didn't like the tone of the exhaust, it was too much V8 mustang like, I wanted bit higher pitch sound, So I ended up adding a Velocity AP mid section X pipe, that made it perfect for my liking. I know 2 different engines( V8 vs V12) but my concern is I don't want to make it loud muscle car V12, I want bit louder & higher pitch sound, that's why I was thinking to go with decat X-pipes from Velocity AP. Perhaps @Stuart@VelocityAP or someone from Velocity can give me better answer with what I'm trying to achieve.
Also anyone used VAP lowering springs for V12, I have those on my V8 and like it, but not sure about V12.
that doesn't change the tone much on V12 vantage like the V8 where it's really noticable.
There's a big difference between valves open and closed on both engines. I find them to be equally noticeable. On my V8, I just removed the fuse and had decats.
A friend did decats and exhaust on his V12S and thought the decats made it too loud. Ironic considering I did not think something could be too loud for him.
I did pull the fuse out , but didn't hear too much difference on v12. but still interested to make the sound bit high pitch, so most likely I have to alter exhaust system a bit, but definitely don't want too loud. ( fun begins)
took me 5 different set of wheels on my V8 to my liking....
