I'm new to Porsche, my first one arrives late June. Unfortunately or fortunately I recently test drove a 991.2. My reaction was immediate, goodbye '15 RS5. Sad but there you have it.

Has anyone bought a 911 GT silver metallic with black satin wheels and no sunroof? I'm having second thoughts about this look and welcome expert opinions. Thank you.

Great color combo!
Must have sliding sunroof, but mostly always use the tilt up option!

What he said! GT Silver is quintessential Porsche IMO. That was the colour of my P4S and I never tired of it. Have to say, though, that a sliding/tilting roof is a must have for me.

Rarely use my roof, and prefer the cleaner look of the non-roof models. My prior Cayman didn't have it, and it seemed like more headroom. Just my 0.02, and congratulations on the new machine. The silver is stunning, and I think the black wheels will look sharp.

Colors are a great combo. I wouldn't worry about it.
Sunroof? Where do you live? In the south you may miss it. Anywhere that it doesn't get hot, no matter. I rarely use mine and I ordered it with the car!

I know what you mean, as I just sold my '14 RS5 and bought a '14 991. As for the color, I think it will look great! Love silver with black wheels. Here it is with the glass sunroof and no sunroof. Maybe it looks a little more aggressive with the black roof, but I think it looks great either way.

Being able to pop the back of the sunroof in order to stop the window open buffeting in a 991 coupe makes it worth it to me. Is it essential? No, and especially no if you keep the windows mostly up.

There is also a larger market on resale, but that should not stop you from enjoying the car for years.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and for easing my mind (the photos are stunning-counting the days until late June). But mainly, it's clear to me that I've not only earned my dream car, but entered into an amazing community of interest. After 24 years in the military I will cherish this car, as well as the many people who are equally passionate about their Porsches. Thank you.

Any second thoughts will disappear in nanoseconds once you see the car in the flesh. And once you start to drive it, you will be addicted.

GT Silver is an awesome, classic Porsche color. Had it on my Boxster - loved it.

Dark wheels, not so much. See Arlan's post, #7 above, for my preferred look.

Congrats on yours and enjoy.

Believe it or not, I've had 2 or 3 clients order and take delivery of their cars with Silver and no roof. Looks great ! It's a little reminiscent of the older gen 911's that didn't have glass sliding roofs!

My last 911 (991) had no sunroof, and I never missed it. I also didn't miss the money that it would have cost me. I think the cars look better with a solid roof color. But that's me, YMMV, IMHO, etc.
