DIY: Cleaning sunroof drain lines

Thought I'd make a quick post in case someone runs into this problem down the line...

I had water on my back seat and assumed my sunroof drain was clogged. After cleaning it out I havent had any wet back seat issues since.

Here is what I did...

1) Un-clip the back of part of the headliner. To un-clip it you just pull it back towards the rear window...pull back and down and it comes right off. Its somewhat elastic so it will stretch out to un-clip.

2) On each side you will see a hose fitting....small clear rubber line. Disconnect the hose from the fitting.

3) I used an air compressor and blasted air into both the fitting and the hose. The clear hose goes down towards the rear tire and there is a small black rubber fitting that hangs down behind the rear tire (in the wheel well) where you can hear/feel the air coming out as you flush the line. I tested by using a small funnel and poured water down the line to make sure it was clear.

4) Goes back together the same way.

Hope this helps.

This is very good to know. Althou I'm sure it is not that much of an issue with a sunroof as with convertibles, I'm sure a lot of people don't know about the necessary maintanance to keep both trouble free. Especially if you live/park in a wooded area.
