Who here has a built tiptronic?

Hi guys, I've been searching the forum and finding some great information, although it's scattered. I know of a few reputable transmission shops that build high hp capable transmissions, but I have not heard of any feedback from any actual owners of high horsepower tip cars, such as who built the trans, and how it performs, or possible options.

Anyone here with a built tip and big turbos that can chime in?

Thanks!

only car i know of is vanteradoc. he isn't a big build but sent his tip to renntech for a rebuild and upgrade. i think blackhorseturbo had a built tip at one time not sure.

paramount performance and southern hot rods would be the go to shops for high hp tippy

Curious to see how the Renntech build is working out. Their prices seem real reasonable for the trans & converter.

Thanks for the info guys, I've heard of those shops, but was wondering what exactly they do... i've heard that some guys machine a basket to accept more discs... if that's the case, as what torque level is this considered a must?
So we have
Renntech
Paramount Performance
Southern Hot rods
There was one more I'm forgetting....

My car was done at IPT transmissions. They are excellent to work with and my car has been to the drag strip multiple times with no issues. I highly recommend them. Here is a link to my build: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-required.html

Awesome! Is it the advertised price in the link? or do the extra options cost more?
What do they rate the torque capability at?

Thanks!

I seem to recall reading somewhere that it is the same transmission in the MB cars as well, so maybe do a search on the MB forums as well...

bad107 has pretty substantial engine build and tip built by IPT.

it absolutely is an MB trans and almost all internal parts are identical in form and function

Makes you wonder. My 05 SL65 made 765 ft/lbs to the wheels, with a flash on a stock transmission. Why are the Porsche transmissions failing at 600-650ft/lbs, in a 1300lb lighter car?

i believe the transmission is basically an awd trans from m/b not the twin turbo v12 trans which was much beefier than the smaller 6 cylinder awd trans
