My friend has a C6 Z06. One thing I didn't see mentioned is the difference in exhaust sound. His exhaust sound is pretty intoxicating. Sounds amazing. My 997.2 with tune/exhaust sounds like a mix between an insanely loud vacuum cleaner and a harrier jet taking off.

Also the 997.2 is light years easier to drive imo. We have raced a few times at the drag strip and he has a horrible time getting the power down. I just use launch control and take off like I was shot out of a slingshot.

Like many here, I've owned both. I've owned 4 c6s including a z06 and have spent a lot of time on the track with them. The last of which I sold a few weeks ago. It had a 500ci ls7, DRM bilsteins, sways, Stoptechs, etc. A very well sorted car.

My take:

Z06:

1) Better looking imo
2) Handled better
3) Stopped better
4) Actually rode quite nicely for a sports car, especially with the upgraded Bilsteins
5) Faster from a roll
6) Exhaust sounded waaaaay better under WOT, but grew tiresome when I wasn't running it hard.

997.2:

1) Better build quality by far
2) Awesome looking from the rear and 3/4 rear
3) Feels more nimble although doesn't handle as well
4) Easier ingress/egress and overall ergonomics
5) Timeless/classic looks
6) Back seat
7) Waaaay easier to drive daily
8) Waaaaaay quicker off of the line. Not even close.
9) I love the quiet exhaust and the ability to enjoy music/bluetooth phone calls.
10) I don't plan on ever tracking the 7.2 TT since I don't think it will be as fun as the Z.
11) Much better street car.

I planned to keep them both but I found I didn't want to drive the Z06 after owning the 997.2 TT.

The new C7 Z06 is going to be a game changer and I almost waited for it before picking up the 7.2 TT.

I drove a C7 Stingray for a week (900 miles) and missed my 7.2 TT the whole time. The C7 was a great car and a step up from the C6 but Porsche has a combination of polish, performance, and subtle bad-assness that I enjoy more than the C7 at this time.

The C7 Z06 is likely to beat the 991 TTS and therefore the 997.2 TTS by a good bit. Even knowing that, I'm planning on keeping the 7.2 TT for a long time.

I also have another Ls powered supercar with even more power than my Z06 had, so when I need that "visceral fix", I'll take it for a spin.

I don't think you will go wrong with whatever you decide.

Most guys on this board are the wrong ones to ask, we bought our cars most likely in the evolution for something better. Better is different for each person my journey was 72 Charger (used), Caddy (Seville Diesel 1980) family hand me down, 88 M3 (new), 300 ZX, Supra Turbo, Married-Kids slowed my down and I drove some decent sports sedans Saab 9000 Turbo, Volvo 850 Turbo, Several Infiniti M's and when I had the opportunity I ordered a 2011 TS cab. Best car I have ever driven. When I was looking for this car the only other brands I looked at were Ferrari (California) and Masseratti. Both of those were not what I was wanting and driving them was what cleared the decision in my mind.

Money is a factor, always is to some extent no matter who you are. How are you going to use the car? How long will you keep it if it is trouble free?

To Me:

New Vette
Super hot looking
Great out of the box performer

Porsche
Classsic
Build Quality
Super car performance and DD reliability

Enjoy which ever you get.
