Considering trading in my 2005 C2S cabriolet and wanted to get an idea of what I should be able to get on trade in. Any help appreciated since the numbers on KBB and Edmunds seem extremely far apart.
It is a 2005 cabriolet S, silver exterior, black interior, 6 spd manual with full leather, adaptive seats, sports chrono, bose, painted seat backs, CPO with 21,000 miles. Always garaged, perfect condition, all maintenance records. Any pricing help appreciated.

Kbb is usually more accurate . If you are trading it in on another Porsche a wise dealership woild offer a decent number on the trade in not to insult you but hedge going over allotment by not discounting the new car as much .
By taking your car in trade they run a risk so fair market value (mid to high 30's rather than good or excellent) is a ball park of what you may wish to prepare for . Unless they offer you more (40's) and take less off the new car.
If yoir car is worth 36K in trade plus the tax credit going into a new car you have to beat 38500 in private sale . with 21K miles if yoir car is as good as you say it is you might get low 40's but the headache of dealing with selling a car might not be worth the extra 3 or 4 grand . Plus they have a huge advantage that the car can be CPO'd and you can't offer the same .
