My Porsche Cayputer

So I brought my 11 Cayenne S in today to have the ashtray replaced (the spring broke) After about 45 minutes they came out to me and said they had a loaner for me because they had 4 or 5 campaigns on my truck that they needed to do. It took about 3 hours and they updated the following:

Main Control Unit Software upgrade
Transmission Control Unit Software Upgrade
Rear control unit software upgrade
Airbag control unit software upgrade.

I found this very interesting on how computerized this truck is.

Very neat stuff.

The car is incredible! Good thing I'm still figuring out all of the electronic trickery or I'd be tempted to go faster, not a good thing at least until I get the Valentine One hardwired I have some road trips coming up through the weekend, will give a more thorough report after that.

There is a sticker on the driver's door jamb stating the date of manufacture, for instance mine says 10/10. If it's an earlier production it may not have the latest software, or firmware update for that matter. I believe the cars are updated at the port, but depending on how old your car is it may need an update.

if your under warranty PIWIS computer is the only way for them to see updates you are lacking, and its all covered so make them plug it in every chance you get.........

Once youre nekkid.........its an 80-160 charge to see whats wrong.....so if you ever have insurance/major work done, have the dealer sneak in a PIWIS test of electronics....
