Got burmesterized finally .......

After days of debating finally decided to change to burmester......Here is why...
1. It is a great high end audio system .The home unit will cost more than my house . Also the biggest issue is that for home audio you need a well designed room with perfect acoustic settings . I have had Krell, marantz and NAD components, but the best way to enjoy these is to have a dedicated well engineered and designed room ,...... which i never had.
Here is a system well designed for the car after tremendous research . I do not have to worry about the room being an issue here . After debating for days , i called my dealer and made the last change .This was the only thing bugging me . I will keep this car for a decade .
I am not sure whether the noise insulating glasses will have any interference with the sound . I am not sure whether the system was designed with those in mind .

Reviews have been mixed predominantly in favour as far as sound is concerned . Difference in sound seems to be better with CD 's less so satellite or MP3 or compressed format . Difference in wow factor as wootporsche mentioned the only other car which has burmester is bugatti veryon ...( cost 1.8 million ) .

any high end audio is going to make compressed audio sound worse. all of my music is ripped from cd's as AIFF files. it doesn't make sense to buy mp3's from itunes or other places when you can order basically any used CD on amazon for about $5 and then rip it to your preference.

The Canadien website has already been updated to reflect the 2012 prices, and it lists the Burmester as being 6500 Canadien dollars, which would put the US price around where it is now.

when you burn CDs do you always burn them in AIFF files to ensure quality? are there other formats you would recommend when burning CDs to make sure we can enjoy the high end audio?

I have it in my CTT, and using any source (sat, cd, ipod, fm) it just sounds so much more powerful then the bose. In terms of crisp and clarity I dont know, and usually I just listen to espn radio on xm. But when I do hear a song I like and I turn it up then I feel extremely grateful that I have such an amazing system. And yes with certain CD's I can turn it really high (bleeding ears level) and it sounds very crisp and clear still. Friends always get the bleeding ears experience when they first get a ride.

I listened to the Burmester System at the dealership and was not impressed at all. You can a nice aftermarket stereo for 7k that will blow the doors of the Burmester for that kind of money. I recall when I demoed the system it sounded rather treble heavy and tinny with light bass, it definitely sounded like a factory system. To be fair it was being compared to both of my current aftermarket car systems. My Cayman has a set of Focal Utopia Be #6 speakers, Jl 8w3v3 sub, Focal Duel Monitor, Focal 1.800Le amps and AudioControls DQL8 processor. My other system has 2 sets of Focal KRX2's, JL 10w6v2, JL 450/4v2, JL 250/1v2 amps and JL CleanSweep/Summing Device. Both Systems have great clear low bass and crystal clear treble.

I'd you put in the burmester thx demo cd and play that on both the bose and burmester, you will be AMAZED with the difference. With compressed xm or mp3 or radio it sounds good on each but it's junk quality compared to DVD-a or thx.

Bose is good, burmester is phenomenal!

i always do aiff. it depends on your source.... practically speaking, FLAC/ALAC is the most prudent as far as size/quality ratio. ipods/itunes wont natively support FLAC, so you can use ALAC, which is apples lossless codec... its compressed at 2:1 which is an incredibly low, indiscernible compression for 99% of systems. for example, an average AIFF file is about 40mb per song. an average ALAC is about a 3rd of that.

Are you sure that your aftermarket system sounds better than the Burmeister system?
