Maintenance cost:Gtr vs. 997 turbo or gt3

I currently have a 996 c2 and have been itching to upgrade and planning to pickup a used one of the above..I plan to keep this car for the next few years so assuming I pick a used one up with roughly 20k miles or so, which car would rack up higher maintenance cost over the years? This will be a daily driver and will have a few track days once a year...any recommendations or suggestions on maintenance cost or perhaps which car to buy would be helpful..thanks!

What is the factory recommended scheduled maintenance required for a non tracked GT-R?

On the 997TT, you really only have an single oil change and brake flush for the first two years. If you are a DIYer, that's about $100 and an afternoon.

Minor maintenance every 2 years, major every 4.

So in the first 4 years of ownership, provided there are no problems on inspection, you have 2 oil changes, 2 brake flushes, and a spark plug change.

That would be $1400 low end, $1900 on the high side at 4 years.

GTR oil changes every 6,000 miles but I do 3000. Transmission and diff's every 18000 or right after a track day. Brakes as needed. Who would change any turbo oil with an interval of 6,000 to 10,000 miles unless you just lease and give it back. If you lease, track it every month...

yes, i would love to lease the GTR since lease cars are always the fastest! However, i am afraid the lease payment will be hefty since the residual value after 36 months is not that high for the GTR or any high-performance car I think...

BB987,
My remarks were to the guy above who suggested oil change intervals of 12,000 to 15,000 miles. You could purchase an 2011 for 70,000.00 and then add an extended warranty for 4,000.00 and if it was not fast enough, spend another 2,000 $ and add 100 HP.
I love Porsche but the cost difference it to much. The GTR can be tuned up so easily to defeat any other car. There is only 1 choice.

i had dd 997 gt3 and new gtr. maintenence costs are same. gtr uses brakes faster though

both cars leased and you can sell both for more than the buy out and pocket the difference. i got $5k for gt3 and $8k for gtr. i like to lease cars that i track, so i dont have to worry about long term abuse

I agree and totally makes sense to lease the track car so that you can all out...i can never step on the gas or the brake hard enough for a car that I purchased...will definitely look into leasing options for both...
