A.W.E. Tuning / G.I.A.C. New Product Release. (+19 whp and 20 wheel lb/ft of torque)

First let me take this opportunity to thank Mark V. from Florida. (sreen name: SWATDoc)

You may have seen the posts, but I was searching for a test car for G.I.A.C. They reached out to us and said that they wanted to do some software coupled with our exhaust.

Mark had originally planned to come up in the summer for some goodies. When I told him that I needed a test car asap, AND he would get free software, he jumped at the chance and booked his plane ticket. About a week later Mark drove his car from Florida to our location just north of Philadelphia. He stayed with his buddy for a day or so, then hopped a plane back home. We cannot thank him enough!

Now onto the good stuff...

Our combined total over stock was 19 whp and 20 wheel lb/ft of torque!

See here for HD video of one of the dyno runs:
(please right click/save as)
http://awe-tuning.com/media/multimed...97GT3_test.wmv

Mark's stock baseline runs were right in line with the other GT3's we have dynoed. They are all very consistent. His car ran the following our our in-house Mustang Chassis Dyno.

368/274

We then redynoed the car with just our exhaust on the stock software. Again, consistent with the other cars we have dynoed.

382/278

Lastly, we did the testing with the G.I.A.C. and our A.W.E. Tuning exhaust.

387/282

BAM!

The car has been transformed. Just ask Mark. The throttle response is dramatically quicker. You will find yourself downshifting for no reason at all while cruising the highway. The sound of the exhaust during a proper heel/toe is unlike anything I have ever heard.

Your upshifts, if done quick enough, will sound like blasting through the gears in a Cup car.

Just to recap some of the specs on our exhaust:

-Thick 16 gauge 321 Stainless Steel headers
-200 cell German HJS catalytic converters
-Thick 14 and 16 gauge 304 Stainless Steel mufflers and tubing
-16 lbs weight savings over stock
-TIG Purge Welded for highest weld strength
-No loss of ground clearance
-Optional Diamond Black tips
-Optional tailpipe turndowns for track noise limits

If you are looking for other 3rd party reviews, here are a few.

If you are in or around North Carolina and looking for a great GT3 technician, contact Gabe at Leith Porsche. Gabe has first hand experience with our exhaust. To date he has sold two systems and is awaiting his third. I speak to him regularly and have mucho respect. He has many Porsche owners in his area that request him personally.

If Texas is where you call home, contact John at Boardwalk Porsche. He too has installed our system and fell in love. He currently has orders with us after his other GT3 clients heard the first system he install.

The software looks great but it seems alot like the S4 where it mainly helps throttle response and not so much power (not saying that is bad). Just some people might see gains of only 5HP/4TQ with little change to the area under the curve and be turned off from the product.

But, people need to realize that there is more to this than just HP and TQ gains to be had here.

Also, doesn't the GT3 red-line at 8,250, was the run stopped because the power curve was going down and y'all were checking peak power?

Also, looks like the exhaust does a great job of smoothing the torque curve. Is there any kind of valve change-over that occurs around 4,000 RPM to cause the sudden "bump" in torque on the stock dyno?

Nice gains and with the 9% drive train loss etc... that's 1.09x to get the crank power. We used the exact same set up as EVO when we were out there for 40 runs in three days

Hey Mark great results. It's tough extracting added power from these cars.

Would like to see and hear video/sound clips of the GT3 idling, revving and drive-by. Should be awesome.

Congrats on the mods and results.

Not sure if I'll make it to 12 hr. of Sebring?

Mike is right. I cannot begin to tell you how much of a difference these modifications have made to the overall experience of driving this already exceptional vehicle. The car's best attributes have been further optimized by the team at A.W.E.: improved exhaust note, almost immediate throttle response, and absolutely no effect on real world drivability/dependability.

From the moment it fires up to its 8400 rpm redline and everywhere in between the incredible soundtrack simply stirs the soul (at rpm's greater than 4000 it is almost a religious experience). Ripping through the gears, at WOT transforms the car into something just this side of a full-on race car of years gone by. And when I finally let off the throttle, the exhaust burbles and chortles, I can almost picture flames from the tail pipes. Yes, it is almost intoxicating at times, it really is that good. I drove straight through from Philly back to Florida without the radio on for most of the trip (when I got caught in stop and go traffic I listened to a little Hendrix, it's also good for the soul). I now find myself driving in a lower gear than necessary just to take advantage of the immediate power available and to listen to the mechanical symphony behind me performing one of its latest works of art.

I have to admit, with the new lightweight flywheel, I have bounced it off the rev limiter not being used to how fast one can go through the gears when really trying. It has taken a little getting used to, but this is the way the car should have come from the factory.

The G.I.A.C. upgrades have delivered everything that I was looking for by improving overall performance yet doing so invisibly. Driving the car for over 14 hours straight (stopping only to refuel) provided me with a real world chance to test the dependabilty and it ran flawlessly even when I pushed it along some long open stretches in the middle of the night. I cannot thank all parties enough for their hard work and dedication to quality workmanship and service.

The entire A.W.E. experience has been a pleasure from begining to end. The fit, finish and exceptional professionalism extended by their staff has made me a customer for life. If anyone would like to see/hear the car in person, I will have it with me at Sebring this year...just stop by for a look-see, we will be at turn #3.

Juan, I hope to see you there buddy...I have watched and learned a lot from your mods, I think that I owe you a beer (or two).

I can attest to this:

When SWAT DOC left my house in his GT3 I heard his car going up a street 1.5 miles away from me. It was awesome..

I was in my house when he approached my street and I said,, OMG, what is that and it was the GT3.

It reminds me of the rumble and sound of the old 68 427/435 hp vette I had.

I was super impressed with Swat docs car. Its a real beauty and the sound just makes it exceptional.

GT-3 ECU Tune

Mike, We did this 7 months ago on a GT-3 RS utilizing a REVO programmable flash. As I said many times on this site you need to tune the ECU for the exhaust system or any other mod's to get it right. Mike at Stuttgart tuned my RS and we saw similliar gains in throttle speed (which was at low setting stock) fuel and timing. I utilized the Cargraphic stage 5. If your system had been out back then I would have chosen yours. After adding a more agressive fuel curve and throttle speed settings adjusted faster, the motor really woke up. Couldn't add much more timing due to 91 Octane but a 100 octane program allowed us to add a bunch of timing and the real performance was released. I hope every person who has your exhaust utilizes this map. As you said it makes a world of difference. Best regards, Steve
