Black Market Racing has spent some time recently to bring you some amazing statistics that show how great our BMR turbo kit for the 996 truly is.

Looking for faster spool but don't want to sacrafice any power!? Look no further! Black Market Racing has designed the Borgwarner EFR turbo kit for the 996 Turbo with you in mind!

EFR 6258 good for 525whp on pump gas/800whp race gas
EFR 6758 good for 620whp on pump gas/900whp race gas
EFR 7163 good for 650+whp on pump gas/1000+ race gas

The car:

The Pudding(results on 91 octane):
6258 vs 6758 Tiptronic

Boost logs:

K24 for comparison

EFR 6258:

EFR 6758:

You see the K24 doesn't hit full boost until about 4900rpm. While the 6258 hits at 3147rpm. And the 6758 isn't far behind at 3588. Your can reference MAP Pressure on the ProEFI logs in the right hand column.

Say Good bye to your K24s or ditch the K24 plans and go Borg Warner!

Seriously. I've never had stock k24s but my fvd race 24/26 made 1.2 at 3500-3600 and my 24/20 can hit 1.4 at about 4000.

In fact the slower spool and slower torque is what made me choose them.... Keeps rods safer.

This is my fault! I sent the wrong log to Tom. Just looked at the date. We actually fixed the wastegates on the K24 car. I'll update the log tomorrow. As long as you keep torque under control spool is not a bad thing. The biggest thing here other then spool is the "on/off" throttle response, especially if you track the car. Boost comes right back. With the turbine wheels being 50% lighter they are great for track applications.

The EFR`s are some nice turbos. They have a very light turbinwheel, which helps transient spool. Also a bonus that they have internal wastegate, BOV and boost solenoid included. They also have a pre-drilled speed sensor mount.
I have been running an EFR 8374 in my other non-Porsche car, and are really happy with it.

I believe there are many great turbos out there, but If I ever should consider tuning my 996TT to the point I need upgrading the turbos, I would go for the EFR`s.

When you are comparing turbo spool, you should take a look at the ramp time, as this will effect spool alot.

If you are worried about to much TQ at low rpm, you just modify your boost table to keep the TQ at a safe level at that rpm.

It'd be nice to see actual dyno charts with these back to back.

do you have dyno by rpm rather then speed, also why does one pull on the dyno overlay stop much earlier than the other one. i'm having a hard time trying to follow what you are trying to show...

Efr turbos are awesome. If I upgrade on my new 996 turbo I was going to build a 7163 hit but with vband turbines. 60lb per min turbos can really flow some air. Also because the turbines are so light, bw up sizes them compared to what would typically be used by say garret for that comp wheel size. This give them much more turbine flow and retain a better drive prrssure ratio while still spooling faster as well. Awesome turbos. Had a 7670 on an sti

HI, I don't understand those runs on that Dyno Sheet that you provided.
Besides the higher HP one is lazier on bottom end but yet you said those spool quicker? Am I missing something here?
You do have more then the turbos swap also.
From what I know and see ,not to be rude here, 18gs would be a better straight up comparison.

Ported stock are as good as it gets, or if your looking for high-quality solid aftermarket take a look at ETS.

I just swapped mine to ETS and modified them so I could do external gates.

My ported stock ones are available if your needing something quick.

We do sell ETS Turbo Manifolds for stock turbos if anyone is interested in those.
