992 Porsche 911 GT3 Spied Testing at Monza

The 992 generation 911 hasn’t even formally debuted, yet Porsche is already testing track-ready GT3 model.

By now, we know a little bit about the 2020 Porsche 992 Series 911. It has a look that’s more evolutionary than revolutionary. Its platform still has some DNA from the current 991 Series car. And, of course, it’ll have a flat-six out back. For other details, we’ll have to wait for the car’s release at either the Los Angeles Auto Show or Geneva Motor Show in the next few months. Luckily, we know Porsche has some tricks up its sleeve for us.

Just a few short weeks after the next-generation 911 was spotted in the wild in Europe, we have a new spy video. Shot at the legendary Monza circuit, it shows a 992 car tearing it up on the track with an all-new aero kit on it. And from the looks (and sounds) of things, it appears to be the next-generation GT3.

A similar car was spotted testing at the Nürburgring earlier this month. But this is the clearest and least-cluttered it’s looked so far. From the sounds of things, it seems like Porsche has stayed true to their word. For the past year, a number of company officials have stated that the GT3 will remain a naturally-aspirated car with a manual transmission. We don’t get a view inside the car, so we don’t know about the transmission. However, going by the audio, it certainly isn’t turbocharged.

So the next-generation GT3 looks great, sounds glorious, and already seems to be at home on the track. Hopefully, we’ll know more by the time Porsche officially reveals the 992 Series car. Until then, we’ll be keeping an eye on every leak and report on them as they happen.
