Alfa Romeo’s 4C Sets Super Fast ‘Ring Time

Alfa Romeo 4C Nurburgring
Alfa Romeo’s 4c Spyder just showed everyone how the lightweight sports car thing is done. 8 minutes on the Nurburgring sounds kinda slow nowadays just because modern sports cars are outrageous. Somewhere along the line, the motoring public got jaded and decided that to be fast you need to be under 8. That, of course, is ridiculous. Finishing the Nurburgring in 8 minutes is a rush. That’s even hard to do in video games.

That Alfa’s 4C managed to do it so quickly isn’t terribly surprising considering the lengths they went to to make it handle well. What is seriously impressive is fast this car is with how little power it has. I mean the four cylinder in the 4C Spyder clocks in at 247 horsepower and nearly 260 ft-lbs of torque. A V6 Honda Accord makes more power than that. Hell, a V6 Honda Accord from ten years ago makes more power than that. It’s crazy how much performance they’re milking out this car’s chassis.

At 8:04, it’s keeping good company. Porsche’s Cayman S lapped the same time as did Audi’s V8 R8. It’ll likely cost a fair bit less than anything else in the time range at $54,000.
