What Would You Do With a Burned-Out Lamborghini Murcielago?
Cooked Lambo up for sale on eBay; we offer some suggestions
Supercar flambe occasionally crops up in the automotive news. Porsche and Ferrari recently had spats of big-dollar-flame-icitis and it appears that this 2008 Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 suffered a similar fate. Now, its current owner has posted the Lambo’s remnants up for sale on eBay for a mere $16,850. We see no part of the car that wasn’t flame-broiled so we’re not sure if $16K makes even the smallest bit of sense, but it likely remains the cheapest Lamborghini you’ll ever find. So what could you do with a crispy Lamborghini? Here are a few of our ideas.
Art gallery installation
What better way could you send up conspicuous consumption than by sticking a placard on a burned-up Murciélago? Really, art should make a statement. A used-up Lambo can do that as a gallery piece. Somehow. We think. Art is hard.
Garage wall art
If the fine-art scene isn’t your thing, you might enjoy a Lambo mounted to the wall in your garage. Provided you have a large garage for your collection, it could serve as a centerpiece. In that regard, it’s probably cheaper than an old sprint car or even an old T-bucket. Picture that sucker greeting your guests when they come visit.
Backwards Fiero swap
You’ve probably seen enough bad Lamborghini kits for Pontiac Fieros, but why not flip it the other way? Sure, the frame looks pretty well useless, but maybe there’s enough left to swap over components from General Motors’ mid-engined 1980’s sports car. Surely, it’s no greater sacrilege to have a Lamborghini with Fiero body panels and a wheezing, rough 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 90 horsepower, right?
Lamborghini “trar”
The word “Trar” stands for “Truck-Car,” which is a car body dropped onto a truck chassis. Usually, one would start with more of the car body, but the most important part, the Lambo doors, remain intact. The type of person capable of dropping a grilled Lambo onto a truck frame should be able to fabricate replacement body panels. Since the Trar will take a beating off-road if used correctly, who cares what condition the Lambo is in?
