Isn’t the future great? With just a few clicks you can buy Ayrton Senna’s 1993 Honda NSX on eBay. Sound too simple? Yep, maybe you’re right, and we’re skeptical, too, but let’s just entertain this possibility for the purpose of amusement.

The seller, don123cook claims this NSX (chassis T000999) is one of three that Senna used. The car was presented as a gift to Senna by Antonio de Almeida Braga, Senna’s mentor and sponsor. don123cook, who has 100 percent positive feedback on eBay also says, “I have owned [this NSX] for 17 years, is hardly used, has 31,000 miles, and is completely original with carpets used by Senna, the last time he drove it, inclusive of his foot print. I have now decided to put it for sale for the first time ever and tell its history.” To the eventual buyer we say, preserve that footprint Library of Congress-style.

Ten bids have been placed on this vehicle so far — the current bid stands at £51,100 ($79,250). If you look at the eBay listing, you’ll see returns are accepted. Maybe that provision is bolstering confidence in this auction’s legitimacy. Perhaps two of those 10 bids have been lodged for bragging rights only. Telling your friends, “I placed a bid on Senna’s NSX,” is a unique and exclusive conversation starter.

Even if this is a sham auction, you’re still bidding on a clean, black-on-black NSX unmolested by lecherous tuners.
