Next Audi quattro Concept to be A6-Based
Information is popping up about a new version of the Audi quattro Concept. This time, the car will be based on the Audi A6. We know you’re thinking it’s going to be heavier than the original quattro concept, but fret not. Auto Bild says carbon fiber and aluminum will keep weight around 2,600 lbs. The German magazine is also reporting the car will measure roughly 181 inches; an inch shorter than a Volkswagen Jetta. This iteration of quattro concept will be powered by a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 good for 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque — sub-threes to 60, anyone?
With the Frankfurt Motor Show happening a month from now, could this information hint that the updated quattro Concept will appear at Frankfurt? Color us excited … cautiously.
There are reports that Audi is still considering the quattro for production but, we’ll take those reports with a gain of salt. It remains to be seen whether this next quattro Concept advances Audi’s feasibility study, or serves as a showstopper they’ll use to channel attention to the company’s whimsical, but subtle design shifts.
