While neither project has been green lit and while no names have been confirmed, Tatsuya Tada, the chief engineer for the GT86/FR-S recently told Aussie site Car Advice that “Akio Toyoda always says to me, Toyota sports car [family] should be three sports car brothers. 86 is in the middle.”
The smaller car (possibly named MR2) will be rear wheel drive and very affordable, priced below the GT86/FR-S. And the bigger car (possibly named Supra) will be developed in conjunction with BMW. This is definitely exciting news for Toyota fans and RWD sport car fans in general.
