Crazy Story Behind Unique Drift Lamborghini Huracan

By -

YouTuber ‘Mad Mike’ debuts his first non-Mazda build, but does it live up to the hype just because it’s a Huracan?

Most of us have heard of Auto influencer “Mad Mike” (aka Michael Whiddett). His legacy continues to grow within the motorsport community for a variety of good reasons. The first being that he has always built the craziest cars to ever grace a race track. He became famous for his loyalty to Mazda and their rotary engines. Every single car that he ended up building always was a Mazda with an outrageous rotary engine, like a custom 26B quad rotor with two turbos stuck on top of it making over 1,000 HP.

However, this car, a Lamborghini Huracan, was the first car for Whiddett to build that wasn’t a Mazda and didn’t have a rotary. Being sponsored by Red Bull, it seems that the company was interested in moving forward to a more exciting brand for their driver. Lamborghini is definitely exciting, if anything. With the help of some big name companies and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, we’ll see Whiddett debut the “NIMBUL” Huracan for the first time via the Red Bull Motorsports YouTube channel.

There are few venues as special to debut a car as the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The heritage and prestige of the event is among the highest in the motorsports community. However, there is a difference between debuting a car for an event and literally trying to finish the car in between runs at the event. With electronics as complex as those involved in a Lamborghini, Whiddett’s team struggled to overcome the factory electronics to allow them to make this production vehicle into an actual race car. However, when the time came for the car’s first official run, it stunned the crowds with its sideways action.

What exactly gives this car the ability to drive quite like this? Well, we’ll say that it did have a little bit of help from quite a few big names, including Lamborghini themselves. The body kit is custom made by legendary Japanese body kit company Liberty Walk, along with a Airrex air suspension, Rotiform wheels, and modified steering knuckles by Lamborghini. Thanks to the healthy help of some nitrous, the NIMBUL also makes around 900 HP, the seemingly perfect amount to be always losing traction regardless of gear.

Towards the end of the video, the CEO of Lamborghini, Stefano Domenicali, pays a visit to Whiddett to check out the modified Huracan for the first time. He seems very happy with what the team has done to the car and we have to say, if its good enough for him, its definitely good enough for us. This moment brings Whiddett to tears and we have to say its quite touching. If you like the car and are more interested in the actual story and how this build was managed in only a couple of weeks, feel free to check out the other four episodes!
