Dream Garage: Porsche Mania!

For a car collector, one of the worst things that can happen — aside from not having the resources to buy said cars — is to run out of places to park them.

Sure, you can opt for off-site storage, but you won’t have the luxury of stepping into your garage and enjoying your rolling works of art any time of day or night.

6SpeedOnline reader and Porsche connoisseur Michael Jen recently shared with us how he solved his car storage dilemma by installing four Bendpak HD-9 4-post lifts in his garage, the same kind you’d find in a commercial shop! You might remember Michael as part of the group of friends who brought to life the award-winning FuguZ, a custom 1973 Datsun 240Z.

This expanded capacity comes at an opportune time as Mr. Jen is waiting on the delivery of a GT3RS and a paint-to-sample 911R, adding to his already impressive stable which includes a 918 Spyder, Cayman GT4, 911 Turbo S, Panamera GTS and Boxster Spyder.

Since residential garages aren’t typically set up to easily accept commercial car lifts, Michael had to do some creative engineering. The garage door railings were modified to maximize ceiling height and a small air compressor was installed to operate the lifts as well as power various tools. Power and air lines drop down from the ceiling for a super clean look.

And of course, no man-cave is complete without a workbench, some entertainment options and a place to display collectibles and memorabilia.
