Ferrari 550 Maranello: A Trip Down Memory Lane (Video)

By -

Who better to show us around the gorgeous V12 Ferrari, than a man who’s driven over 50,000 miles in one?

There aren’t many Ferrari fans who don’t consider the 550 and the 575 Maranello one of the most beautiful V12 Ferraris ever made. The combination of a sweeping front end and a clean and sculpted rear made for an iconic Pininfarina design. Plus, it sported the true heart of a Prancing Horse — a front-mounted V12 engine.

This video by Harry’s garage isn’t anything like the Top Gear stuff most young guys are accustomed to nowadays. There aren’t any burnouts, no drifting, and no silly puns or crazy faces. Instead, Metcalfe offers a good in-depth look at what makes this vehicle so special. Harry begins by sharing his experience at the wheel of the Maranello, which after owning two of them (including a Barchetta) and logging over 50,000 miles we could say is quite extensive.

You can think of this video as a 550 Maranello 101. It covers the car from A to Z and it leaves you with a smile on your face. Watching Harry drive the lovely V12 even made us a bit jealous, as modern Ferraris simply don’t look that delightful to drive. They’re…computerized, and somewhat savage. Not the Maranello, it’s composed and quite magnificent.
