Fire-Breathing, Twin Turbo Viper Goes for 8-Second Quarter-Miles

By -

Vengeance Racing Viper makes nearly 2,000 wheel horsepower and uses every bit of it.

The video above comes to us from the BigKleib34 YouTube channel and it features one of the nastiest Gen V Dodge Vipers we have seen online or in person. This car was built by Vengeance Racing and it packs more than 1,900 horsepower and 1,500 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels, but this isn’t just a dyno warrior. This wicked Viper is nearly in the 8-second range in the quarter mile and the driver is still rowing his own gears.

The details on this Gen V Dodge Viper are short, but we know a few things about this Yorange (that was the actual color name) Mopar supercar. First, it is fitted with a Vengeance Racing twin turbo setup. Second, it packs 1,917.67 horsepower and 1,549.5 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels and third, it is still equipped with a manual transmission.

Those numbers make it one of the most powerful Gen V Vipers in the world. In fact, it might actually be the most powerful, we don’t know for sure. What we do know is that this car is not just made to make big power on the rollers, as it is knocking on the door of the 8-second quarter-mile range.

Big Power Viper in Action

The first action in the video above shows the Viper on the dyno of Vengeance Racing with a big crowd on hand for the pull. After the rip, the numbers pop up on the screen and they are as impressive as everyone had hoped, topping 1,900 horsepower and 1,500 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels and sound great in the process.

Viper Blowing Fire

Next, the Yorange Viper hits the drag strip, where it takes on a handful of V8-powered American cars.

First up is a Ford Mustang that gets out a little better, but even with some dancing on the top end, the Dodge still gets there first with a 9.34 at 164 miles per hour.

Viper Beats Mustang

On the second run, the Viper takes on a bottled Camaro. Once again, the other car gets out a bit quicker, but the Dodge supercar runs it down and wins the race, running a 9.06 at 166 miles per hour. According to the track announcer, that is the best time for this Viper.

Finally, the last race has the twin turbo Viper taking on another Camaro. This time when the competitor gets out better, the Dodge can’t run him down and the Camaro wins the race, running an 8.89 to the Viper’s 9.47.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
