Fishermen Catch Cayenne Off Chinese Coast
Talk about a big catch. Earlier this month fishermen in southern China recovered a Porsche Cayenne while fishing. Apparently, the SUV had been sitting in the ocean for over two years. Yikes.

According to CRI, the area where they were fishing is a hot route for smugglers. The cost of importing a Porsche into China is extremely high, so frequently ships will try to smuggle cars and other goods through this corridor. What likely happened is the smuggler carrying the car was nearly caught and dumped his cargo to avoid trouble.

Fast forward to today and the SUV is nearly worthless. In China, the base model Cayenna costs around $130,000. The car the fishermen have dredged up is an S, so it’s cost is closer to $160,000. Still, there was a small profit to be made by the fishermen. Selling it to a local scrapper, netted them a princely sum of $640.
